Hello!
Thanks for purchasing the Clecall Upright Cleco Pliers. We have been getting a ton of great feedback on the usability and comfort. As part of the normal feedback, we have received one or two suggestions on small tweaks that customers might appreciate. The first, was adding spring loading to the plier. This was suggested in the beginning and we added it promptly to all tools.
Now, last week, a large aircraft manufacturer in North America, came up with a little tweak that we love. It reduces the distance it takes to compress the handle, without affecting cleco clearance. We would like to offer it existing customers at our cost, so that you can choose whether you like the original piece, or the new taller piece in the top jaw.
They suggested adding .050" in height to the steel press piece that is inserted into the top jaw of the Clecall pliers. This takes up some of the travel in the handles, so that you can compress the cleco with less movement from your hands. Like anything, it means that some of the rarely-used, larger clecos such as 1/4 clecos will have tighter clearance, but for the majority of spring loaded clecos, this will be a nice improvement in an already very comfortable tool.
We have ordered a limited run of the taller press pieces to start. We have no idea how many of the thousands of orders will want to take part in this, but we can order more with short turn around.
In order to take advantage of this update, please use Paypal and send $2.50 to cover the cost of each piece and first class shipping. Because it is hard to send the piece in a small envelope, we have to charge this per piece, if you want to get more than one piece. You can paypal the amount to christopher.braun@ gmail.com, with your shipping address and quantity requested. When the pieces are ready in approximately 20 days, we will send them promptly your way. They are very easy to switch out.
We would love to send it out for free, but it is not necessary for the operation of the tool, and we make very little money on the tool as it is. It is very expensive to produce this tool in the US and we just thought that this would be a nice way to provide customer service to those who have already bought the tool, rather than having you buy a new tool to get the change. But, if you want another new tool, I'm not stopping you. ;) This change will make it even faster and more comfortable.
So, if you would like the new piece, paypal us $2.50 per piece requested, and we will send them out when the order arrives from our supplier. The piece looks exactly like the current piece, just taller.
Thank you, and we appreciate your support. And no, there will be no parts sent out for free and no shipping discounts. Sorry.
Happy Building,
Christopher
